Navy Federal Rolls Out Automatic Plan to Empty Married Sailors’ Bank Accounts One Week Before Returning from Deployment

To expedite the process of draining married sailors’ bank accounts, NFCU will be automatically liquidating all checking and savings accounts prior to return from deployment. Prospective ex-spouses can pick up envelopes with their former loved-ones deployment cash.

“Here at Navy Federal, our members are the mission. We value everyone’s time, and when we can streamline our banking services, we will.” Sara Klooless, an NFCU spokesperson, said in an interview. “We’re sure all the spouses want to surprise their servicemember with all the cash they made on deployment, so we’re automatically withdrawing that money in advance to be ready for a quick pickup.”

At press time, one military spouse asked about adding automatic wiring services to a local divorce attorney firm. Ms. Klooless was happy to help and promised she would look into setting up those services too.
